Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
Healthcare FSAs help you reduce healthcare costs and make budgeting easier. You contribute pre-tax money to the account and then draw on the funds during the plan year for qualified expenses your health plan doesn't cover like doctor's bills, prescriptions, dental care, and vision care.
Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations state that FSA funds cannot be carried over from year to year. |
FSA advantages
- Tax savings - You don't pay taxes on FSA contributions.
- Not tied to a certain kind of plan - The FSA can cover out-of-pocket costs associated with any kind of health plan. You can even sign up for an FSA if you opt out of your employer's health plan.
- Easy to use - Depending on your plan design, you may receive the HumanaAccessSM Visa® Debit Card. Which you can access your FSA funds easily.
- Dependent care - You can also have a dependent care FSA to set aside money for expenses such as childcare and adult day care. Though you can't use the HumanaAccess Card for dependent care accounts, we make it easy to get reimbursement.
