How Humana Promotes Patient Safety
Humana understands that the majority of medical errors are caused by communication or systems problems — not incompetence. Humana verifies doctors in our networks meet certain requirements.
Humana also gives members tools to improve patient safety. Those tools are in the password-protected MyHumana page. |
MyHumana Tools
MyHumana has a wealth of tools to help improve patient safety.
If you’re a member and haven’t registered for MyHumana, you can register and find out more through Explore MyHumana.

MyHealth Record
MyHealth Record helps you keep track of your complete medical history — the information your caregivers need to help prevent errors. It includes sections on your doctors and pharmacies, medical benefits, emergency contact information, medical conditions and procedures, family history, immunizations, medications and supplements, drug allergies, and other allergies. You can access and print the record from any computer with secure Web access. |
 |
Compare Hospitals Tool
Compare Hospitals lets you rank hospitals based on the number of similar procedures performed, complication rates, mortality rates, and other factors. The tool includes data for more than 170 procedures. It also shows hospitals that abide by Leapfrog standards for patient safety, such as use of electronic medical records and appropriate staffing levels. |

Drug Library and Healing Kitchen
With these two tools, you can look up interactions and side effects, as well as benefits of prescription and over-the-counter drugs, herbs, supplements, and even foods. |
These programs and tools are not insurance products and are not guaranteed under any contract. Humana is not required to provide these services, but makes them available to eligible members at no additional cost.
