Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)
Businesses need healthy and productive employees to help their companies be successful in today’s competitive environment. An EAP is a confidential source to help employees address personal and professional issues that may interfere with their health and productivity. |
Provided by LifeSynch
Humana's EAP is provided through Humana's wholly owned subsidiary, LifeSynch - an industry leader in behavioral health.
The value of an EAP
Employees face a wide range of challenges that can have an impact on their focus and productivity. They face issues that can consume individuals and affect their general attitude and stress levels.
Sometimes an employee’s problems or issues spill over into the workplace. If not properly addressed, these problems contribute to higher absenteeism, as well as "presenteeism" – when an employee is present in body, but not necessarily in mind.
Offering an EAP is a good investment, as employees with reduced anxiety will miss less work and they’ll be able to focus on their job more effectively.
Services in the EAP
Here's a sampling of EAP services available:
- Unlimited telephone assistance – Employees can call the toll-free number for help anytime day or night, 365 days a year. A master’s-level professional conducts a telephone assessment to determine the type and level of service the caller needs.
- Counseling services – Employees can have face-to-face sessions with an EAP counselor.
- Financial counseling – Counselors provide help with financial issues over the phone.
- Legal services – Employees receive an initial consultation and a discount on subsequent services.
- Childcare assistance – Employees can get referrals to local centers, along with center profiles and vacancy information.
- Eldercare resources – Counselors provide consultation services and resource packets containing helpful articles, videos, etc.
The EAP can provide additional services for managers and employers.
These programs and tools are not insurance products and are not guaranteed under any contract. Humana is not required to provide these services.
